OUR TASK: To find HOPE in the midst of contemporary global crises & give it LIFE
The International Pastoral Care
Network for Social Responsibility, IPCNSR, is an interfaith network of Pastoral
Care Specialists and Educators working together to foster and promote spiritual,
emotional and environmental health for all persons, institutions, and the
planet. There are members in more than fifty countries and on every
continent. Each regional section of IPCNSR is a separate organization.
Since its founding some 20 years ago, we have worked together to develop
communication among pastoral caregivers through the exchange of news and views
on our website and in our newsletter, through cooperative action on behalf of
justice-centered peace-making, through periodic international theory-building
conferences, through network gatherings in conjunction with other pastoral care
and counseling conferences, and by issuing and publicizing statements of concern
on significant issues of justice, peace and the integrity of creation.
MISSION STATEMENT
We affirm our faith heritages that
proclaim peace through justice as the intension of God. We commit ourselves to
reverence for this planet and all its inhabitants. We pledge to work for a new
community that protects peace, justice, and the integrity of creation — the only
true security and hope for our planet. We therefore join hearts. Hands
and voices throughout the world in an interfaith network of specialists in
pastoral care and counseling working toward the creation of a more peace-filled
world that is ecologically whole, economically fair, and socially just.
As members of this network we unite,
with God's help, to use our dual training in theology and psychology to create a
global community of pastoral caregivers who support and empower one another in
individual and collective responses to the spiritual, ethical, ecological,
economic, and political crises that threaten the well-being of the earth and the
human family. We seek to illuminate the relevance of these issues to the
theory, the training, and the practice of pastoral care and counseling. We
develop and share with one another constructive, prophetic responses to this
impact, utilizing the insights, skills, and resources derived from our
experience and training, to support the continued development of care of the
earth, peacemaking activities and theory-building on these issues in all
pastoral care organizations. We are committed to cooperating with our brother
and sister specialists, across national, religious, and cultural boundaries, to
help save God's creation, our precious planet, from ecological disaster,
epidemic violence, over population and dehumanizing poverty and oppression.

"Teach your children what we have taught our children, the
earth is our mother. . .
The earth does not belong to humans; humans belong to the earth . . .
Whatever befalls the earth befalls the children of the earth.
People did not weave the web of life; they are merely strands of it.
Whatever they do to the web, they do to themselves."
