IPCNSR: MISSION STATEMENT

     We affirm our religious heritage that proclaims peace through justice as the will of God, and commit ourselves to reverence for this planet and all its in habitants.  We pledge to work for a new community that protects peace, justice, and the integrity of creation, the true security and hope for our planet.  We therefore join hearts and hands throughout the world in an interfaith network of specialists in pastoral care and counseling in working toward a creation of a more peace-filled world that is ecologically whole, economically fair, and socially just.

     As members of this network we unite, using with God's help, our dual training in theology and psychology.  To encourage a global community of pastoral caregivers who support and empower one another in individual and collective responses to the spiritual, ethical, ecological, and political crises that threaten the well-being of the earth and the human family, to promote the relevance of these issues to the theory, the training and practice of pastoral care and counseling, to develop and share with one another constructive and prophetic responses to this impact, utilizing the insights, skills, and resources derived from our experience and training, to support the continued development of care of the earth and peacemaking activities and theory-building on these issues in all pastoral care organizations.
